A Summer Garden Design at a NY Country Estate

A white themed garden design in full bloom at a NY country estate.  I used Annabelle Hydrangea, Shasta Daisy, Veronica and Lambs Ear. This is the entry to the pool garden that is framed in with a traditional white picket fence. This part of the property is set way back from the main house and is primarily used during the summer months.  Had it been closer I would have worked in some spring blooming perennial groupings. These Hydrangeas are in full sun.  With the correct soil mix and proper irrigation they will do fine.  The first two to three years are real crucial with watering until the root systems spread.

My projects are located in the NJ and NY areas.

A Cobble Stone Driveway

A NY cobblestone driveway entry project in progress. These cobblestones are set in mortar on a very thick steel and fiber reinforced concrete slab. Unlike concrete pavers, stone cobbles are very irregular making this a very labor intensive endeavor.  The final result is a rustic, timeless, old world charm that just cannot be achieved with pavers.

Stone Sitting Walls, Patio and Back Yard Garden

Finely crafted stone walls frame in this flagstone patio creating an inviting outdoor room.  The archway in the background is the source for a multi-tiered waterfall which leads down to a very unique Koi pond.  The planting design helps to soften the extensive masonry work.  This landscape architecture project is located in Rockland County, NY.

A NY Patio and Koi Pond Design

A view looking across the Koi pond and floating stepping stones. A flagstone patio is framed in with finely crafted stone walls and lushly landscaped plantings. The shade from the trees, sound of running water from the waterfall and warm feeling created from the plantings and natural stone walls makes this a delightful space to sit and relax with friends and family.

Small Patio Garden Idea in a NY Garden

A white pergola design ties in with the white trim on the house. It adds character to the house and makes this space into an outdoor room. I am training Wisteria to climb up and over the pergola which will give additional shade as well as soften the space.  The patio is surrounded with Roses, Boxwood , Holly and a variety of spring flowering bulbs and perennials.
This landscape design project is located in a New York town home community.

Pond, Waterfall & Patio in Rockland County, NY

A finely crafted stone wall frames in the flagstone patio. Light niches have been installed just beneath the stone coping. An opening in the wall leads the large stone slabs that create a "floating" stepping stone path across the Koi pond. To the upper right you can see the beginning of the waterfalls that spill out of a stone tunnel I created.  The perimeter is lushly planted with Ferns, Hosta & Perennials.
This landscape architecture & construction project is located in Southern NY.

Country Garden Detail

Geraniums, Petunias, Verbena & Lambs Ear in a Hudson Valley country garden project.

A Small Part Shade Planting Detail

A small part shade planting adjacent to a sitting nook in a back yard garden.  This is the second season of growth. Featured in this photo are Ferns, Boxwood and Daylily. Good organic topsoil, mulch and consistant watering are keys to establish a shade garden quickly and maintaining its look.  There are times later in the season that some of the foliage can yellow.  I usually just trim these off. This garden designis located in Westchester, New York.

A Small Terrace & Pergola in a NY Garden

A small stone terrace and pergola project over looking the Hudson River in Rockland County. The stone on the columns match the stone veneer that we used on the house and retaining walls.  The pergola is constructed with cedar. Visually I did not want to make the beam too heavy looking so I had a stainless steel beam inserted into the beam to avoid any sag do to the span. A sound system and lighting is set up in the rafters of the pergola.
